Overview

The Youth for Seva Delhi Chapter commenced in April 2012. It was started with the primary aim of forming a socially conscious team that would make social change by creating a broad-reaching platform to encourage and motivate volunteers in Delhi in compliance with their interests, skill, and time. The initial strategy was to focus on colleges to mobilize volunteers and host events. By 2013, more than 800 volunteers were part of the Delhi YFS team.

Our Programs

NMMS

The National Means-cum Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMS) is an initiative that helps countless students across various areas. It is a government scheme that helps students of lower-income groups studying in government or government-aided schools get scholarships.

Abhyasikas

While schools play an important role in furthering education, some students may need additional support. Abhyasikas are YFS’ efforts to help such students who need extra assistance. These are free tuition centers for students aimed at helping children who live in hostile home environments to focus on their studies for a better future.

Navoudit

Chiguru (meaning to sprout) is an event that includes month-long preparation that culminates in a single day of talent display by children. The event includes students from government schools and non-formal educational institutions.

Adolescent Health Awareness Programs

We started AHAP sessions to help adolescents to become better healthy, responsible citizens of India. Our program is designed with sessions to address the change in adolescence and mental health, peer pressure, addiction, and counseling for students.

Summer/Winter Camp

Summer Camps play a huge role in the development and nurturing of a child. Camps offer a playful and interactive environment where children can learn important life skills. We believe that comprehensive and interactive education is an equitable right for everyone. Hence, we introduced the Summer/Winter Camp program, to equalize access to fun activities for everyone!

We understand the daunting question that looms over the heads of many students: “What do you want to become?” Recognizing that the path to one’s dream career is not always clear—especially given the rapid developments and changing dynamics in various industries—YFS has initiated the Career Awareness Program.

Conservation of biodiversity can no longer be regarded as an exoteric exercise on which the very existence of all life depends. To help bridge the gap we conduct multiple plantations drives across the country. We engage volunteers in sapling plantations together with following up with the growth of the saplings and maintenance.
